Lithium Technology Receives UAV Order

November 7, 2003

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., November 7, 2003. Lithium Technology Corporation has received a purchase order to produce an initial battery pack for an all-electric Unmanned Aerial Vehicle [UAV] manufactured by Views-On-High, Inc.

The custom 16-Volt, 20 Amp-hour battery pack, complete with a battery management system, will provide propulsion for the UAV, which has a 64-inch wingspan and features a tailless, carbon fiber composite body. The battery pack will also power the UAV's on-board surveillance equipment.

Views-on-High has received orders for the UAV from military customers interested in "force protection" operations and from commercial customers interested in security operations. The company anticipates rapid growth from follow on orders and is preparing to produce up to 1,000 units of this UAV model in the coming year.

"Our GAIA product line can readily address the requirement for fast charging and high energy density in UAV applications," said Ron Turi, Director of Product Development and Applications for LTC's GAIA USA unit. "This initial order, along with other recent orders for batteries deployed in UAV balloons positions LTC as a battery supplier for small to large UAV applications in military as well as commercial markets."

Pleasant Grove, Utah-based Views-in-High is the maker of the ARIS MK Series Remotely Piloted Vehicles, including the ARIS MK-96 UAV.

LTC, with GAIA operating locations in Plymouth Meeting, PA and Nordhausen, Germany, provides customers in the U.S. and Europe with its unique large- format batteries for a variety of national security, stationary power and transportation applications. LTC's battery products carry the GAIA brand name and trademark.
