PHOENIX, Ariz., Oct. 26, 2004. Honeywell announced today that it has been selected by the Department of Defense to participate in the Advanced Technology Support Program III (ATSP3), a contracting program to provide United States government agencies with streamlined access to advanced technologies and engineering capabilities.
The initial five-year contract has two five-year options and will be administered by the Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA), the defense department's center for microelectronics acquisition, transformation and support.
Other companies selected for the program include: BAE Systems, The Boeing Co., General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.
"ATSP3 will provide the government with rapid access to a broad range of Honeywell technologies, capabilities and expertise, and this will quickly improve the operational readiness of fielded Department of Defense systems," said Rob Wilson, vice president, Honeywell Defense and Space Electronic Systems. "Utilizing advanced technologies and next-generation engineering techniques will ensure reliability, maintainability and performance in advanced weapons systems."
Designed to streamline the procurement process, ATSP3 applies to all defense electronic systems. Engineering services that utilize ATSP3 will be performed on programs that require improvements in electronic performance for reliability, obsolescence or technology insertion, including system upgrades or redesigns.
Services will be provided at several Honeywell locations, including Albuquerque, N.M.; Clearwater, Fla.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Teterboro, N.J.; and Tucson, Ariz.
