SAIC acquires Presearch Inc.

SAN DIEGO, Calif., Oct. 26, 2004. Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Presearch Incorporated, a Washington, D.C.-area systems engineering firm.

This acquisition will combine the naval systems engineering and data mining expertise of Presearch with SAIC's world practice providing engineering, training, and information technology solutions to government and large enterprise clients.

Based in Fairfax, Va., Presearch was founded in 1963, and specializes in high-tech engineering, training and information systems in sensitive government environments. The company currently has 150 employees located primarily in the Washington, D.C. and Charlottesville, Va. areas. Upon completion of the acquisition, all employees will transition into SAIC's Research and Intelligence Group. Terms of the acquisition agreement were not disclosed.

"This transaction is a wonderful outcome for our employees," said Leonard P. Gollobin, Presearch founder and chief executive officer. "First, I am very proud of the accomplishments achieved by our employees over the last 40 years. Furthermore, I am pleased that this transaction provides the opportunity for our staff to continue its work with a company who shares our values in solving technical issues in the interest of national security. I believe SAIC will provide our employees great opportunities for further personal and professional development."

Presearch provides the Integrated Multi-sensor Analysis Training (IMAT) system for the U.S. Navy and develops, installs, integrates, and supports the Pathfinder data mining tools used by Department of Defense intelligence and law enforcement analysts.

IMAT supports the U.S. Navy fleet with advanced training and tactical decision aids, based upon high fidelity physics based modeling, coupled with oceanographic and geophysical databases.

Pathfinder is a web-based, software application that is extensively used for data mining and knowledge discovery with a user base of more than 8,000 analysts. The company also supports the Naval Sea Systems Command in warfare analysis, comprising tech-based assessments and requirements and modeling and simulation. It also designs and operates Department of Energy (DOE) networks and communications.

"Presearch is a valued addition to our team," said Donald H. Foley, president of SAIC's Research and Intelligence Group. "Together, we have a significant capability to help a wide range of government customers solve their most challenging problems."

Presearch's clients include the military, intelligence agencies, energy, pharmaceutical, and banking industries.

SAIC is the nation's largest employee-owned research and engineering company, providing information technology, systems integration, and eSolutions to commercial and government customers. SAIC engineers and scientists work to solve complex technical problems in national and homeland security, energy, the environment, space, telecommunications, health care, transportation, and logistics. With annual revenues of $6.7 billion, SAIC and its subsidiaries, including Telcordia Technologies, have more than 44,000 employees at offices in more than 150 cities worldwide.
