ROME, N.Y., 23 June 2005. Radio experts at the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate in Rome, N.Y., are looking to Shared Spectrum Co. in McLean, Va., to develop next-generation radio communications technology.

Shared Spectrum officials are developing technology that dynamically and efficiently allocates RF spectrum among several different competing radios and wideband tactical mobile communications services.

Company radio experts are working under terms of a $17 million contract awarded from Rome on June 22. The contract number is FA8750-05-C-0150.

The advanced proven next-generation technologies from Shared Spectrum will enable tactical radio networks to use available spectrum with minimal interference to existing users, Air Force officials say.

New proven technologies suggest a revolutionary prototype next-generation enabled radio system in military relevant scenarios. Work will be complete by August 2007.
