Raytheon picks GTSI as partner for weather contract

CHANTILLY, Va., 12 Sept. 2005. GTSI Corp. today announced that it will be a partner for a contract worth up to $300 million from the National Weather Service (NWS).

The contract was awarded to Raytheon Co. by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA's) NWS to provide operations and maintenance for the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), a nationwide operational weather data analysis and dissemination system.

GTSI will provide hardware, software, managed fulfillment services, technology refresh, and maintenance.

Together, GTSI and the Raytheon team will bring a mission focus that provides highly effective, secure and reliable computing and telecommunications resources, and continuously identify methods for applying information technology to improve the NWS's mission performance and reduce program costs.
