American Science and Engineering receives $45-million contract from Middle East customs agency

BILLERICA, Mass., 2 March 2006. American Science and Engineering Inc., maker of X-ray detection technology, has been awarded a two-phase contract having an estimated value of $45 million. A Middle East Customs Agency plans to use American Science and Engineering's patented X-ray detection systems to secure strategic borders, seaports, and airports. The contract includes multiple OmniView Shaped Energy Gantry Systems and multiple PalletSearch and ParcelSearch X-ray Inspection Systems.

The contract includes multiple OmniView Shaped Energy Gantry Systems and multiple PalletSearch and ParcelSearch X-ray Inspection Systems.

The OmniView Shaped Energy Gantry System is a multiview relocatable system combining high-energy transmission inspection and multiple Z Backscatter X-ray views. It is designed to reliably detect contraband and threatening materials, such as weapons and explosives hidden in cargo containers, tankers, and large vehicles.
