PARSIPPANY, N.J., 22 May 2006. The U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army have issued an order, valued at approximately $12 million, to DRS Technologies Inc. DRS will provide Deployable Power Generation and Distribution Systems (DPGDS), according to the agreement. The contract was awarded to DRS by the U.S. Air Force Air Armament Center (AAC) at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

DRS will provide distribution equipment for U.S. Air Force flight-line operations, and Prime Power Units (PPUs) and distribution equipment to the U.S. Army.

Work on this order will be performed by the DRS Technical Services unit in Alexandria, Va., DRS Sustainment Systems unit in West Plains, Mo., and DRS Fermont unit in Bridgeport, Conn.

Deliveries are expected to commence immediately and continue through December.

The DPGDS is an air-transportable, electrical power generation and distribution system that provides electrical power to U.S. military forces in remote areas around the world, from the support of small military outposts to airbases. The DPGDS system includes prime power generators, secondary, tertiary and ancillary distribution equipment, as well as a remote operator's terminal.
