EXTON, Penn., 21 August 2006. Innovative Solutions & Support Inc., along with an installation partner, announced a milestone in the speed of cockpit upgrades and installations. An installation of the IS&S Cockpit/IP flat-panel display system for a customer's B-767 aircraft was completed in 48 hours, cutting the costs associated with keeping an aircraft on the ground and out of commission -- a savings of roughly $70,000 per day.
IS&S supplied the flat panel displays and the partner performs the installation and pilot training.
The two-day turnaround is accomplished by a field crew at the customer's site of choice, rather than requiring the aircraft to fly to a designated installation facility.
The companies received Supplemental Type Certification from the FAA in October of 2005 for the upgrade.
