DALLAS, 7 August 2006. X-Change Corporation's wholly owned subsidiary, AirGATE Technologies Inc., has received from NASA's Johnson Space Center an order for the company's surface acoustic wave (SAW) development system. The system will be used for an undisclosed application.

Today's news follows a July 17 release announcing AirGATE's sale of SAW-based RFID systems to Department of Defense contractors.

SAW-based RFID systems are used to identify and track tagged items in applications in which traditional RFID systems are not adequate. These applications include measuring the temperature of tagged items, as well as reading items comprised of or in the proximity of liquid or metal, items at long distances, and items undergoing wide ranges of temperature, pressure, or radiation. SAW systems are passive, requiring no battery or external power source.

This January, AirGate signed an exclusive, national agreement for sale and support of SAW systems with Carinthian Tech Research, a leading Austria-based developer of SAW-based RFID devices and technology. This agreement positions X-Change as one of the few companies with the capacity to ship SAW tags and reader systems in volume.
