SAN DIEGO, Calif., 12 October 2006. The Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT) in San Diego, Calif., has announced plans to award business services that are designed to speed the commercialization process for technologies dedicated to military, homeland security, and first responder operations. CCAT will accept applications from government laboratories, academic researchers, and small entrepreneurs who have engineered technologies for use in defense and security applications from October 16 through November 15, 2006.

The Center is interested in reviewing technologies that have been developed through the prototype stage and are ready for transition to a commercial product. Companies which have successfully completed, or will complete shortly, a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II project are encouraged to apply.

Submitted technologies will undergo a detailed review, evaluation and selection process, after which, selected technologist(s) will be offered tailored transition services, such as commercialization planning, customized market research, business development, investment networking, and other support to facilitate market introduction. All services are performed by CCAT staff in close collaboration with key representatives of the selected organizations to ensure success.
