NEWBURY PARK, Calif., 27 Oct. 2006. Opto Diode Corp. in Newbury Park, Calif., is offering the ODA-5W-100M photodetector/amplifier combination with 100 mega ohm gain.

The device comes in a standard TO-5 can, and has a visible wavelength responsivity at 660 nanometers of 40 volts/microvolts. The combination detector-preamp's frequency response is 1 kHz with low dark offset at plus-or-minus 1 millivolt with dark offset noise at 5 millivolts RMS.

Operation specifications are plus-or-minus 15 volts at 25 degrees Celsius. The device's detector active area is one-tenth inch in diameter, with a package that makes it easy to integrate and suitable for applications like fluorescence and spectroscopy, company officials say.

The ODA-5W-100M also is for any low-light tasks where electrical noise can affect the photodiode signal if the detector and amplifier are separate components on a printed circuit board.
