Aethercomm unveils high-powers S-band RF amplifier to boost military radio signals

The device is for military platforms as well as commercial applications because it is robust and offers high power over a 300 MHz bandwidth. It is packaged in a modular housing that measures 8 by 9 by 1 inches, and has a typical saturated output power of 49.5 dBm.

The device's noise figure at room temperature is 6 dB typical. This amplifier offers a typical gain of 48.0 dB with a typical gain flatness of ± 1 dB. Input and output VSWR is 2.0:1 maximum.

This RF module requires an input voltage of 28 volts DC ± 0.5 volts DC. Harmonics can be found on page two of this data sheet. This SSPA includes an external DC blanking command that enables and disables the module as required. Standard features include over/under voltage protection, reverse polarity protection, over-temperature shutdown with alarm, a DC current sense and a VSWR sense.

The output is protected from an infinite VSWR at the RF output port. The input RF connector is SMA Female. The output RF connector is a type N female. DC and Command voltages are accessible via a DSUB DC connector.

This amplifier operates from -20 to 75 degrees Celsius base plate. A logic low or open circuit disables this PA. A logic high will enable the amplifier. The quiescent current enabled is approximately 2.1 amps typical. The current in standby mode is 100 milliamps maximum.
