  • September 30, 2007 -- EDO receives $55 million order to support ballistic missile defense system
    NEW YORK, 30 Sept. 2007. EDO Corp. has been awarded a $55 million task order for evaluation and assessment support of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The work has a specified period of performance from October 2007 through December 2011.
  • September 28, 2007 -- Emerson buys Motorola's Embedded Communications Computing business
    ST. LOUIS, 28 Sept. 2007. Emerson Electric Co. in St. Louis is acquiring the Motorola Embedded Communications Computing (ECC) business in Tempe, Ariz., for $350 million in cash, and will make it part of Emerson Network Power to strengthen Emerson's position in the $6 billion merchant embedded computing industry.
  • September 28, 2007 -- Dawn spacecraft launches from Cape Canaveral on 3-billion mile, 8-year NASA mission
    DULLES, Va., 28 Sept. 2007. Orbital Sciences Corp. announced that Dawn, its first interplanetary spacecraft, was successfully launched from Cape Canaveral, Fla. Lift-off of the Delta II launch vehicle occurred Sept. 27 at 7:34 a.m. and approximately one hour later, Dawn separated from the final stage of the rocket. Initial data from the spacecraft indicates it is operating as planned early in the mission.
  • September 27, 2007 -- Polaris Defense delivers military vehicles with electronic direct fuel, other innovations
    MINNEAPOLIS, 27 Sept. 2007. Polaris Industries Inc. has completed the first production of--and received orders from the U.S. Department of Defense for--its newest military vehicle, the MV800 4X4 ATV. The MV800 is Polaris' first military machine to feature the Patriot Engine with Electronic Direct Fuel Injection. The 760cc, 40hp spark ignition engine is powered by JP8, the U.S. military's standard fuel.
  • September 26, 2007 -- Rolls-Royce selected by U.S. military for advanced technology development program
    INDIANAPOLIS, 26 Sept. 2007. Rolls-Royce has been selected for the HEETE (Highly Efficient Embedded Turbine Engine) advanced technology program to design next-generation propulsion systems for the U.S. Air Force. The work will be carried out by the company's LibertyWorks research unit in Indianapolis, Ind.
