ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md., 30 Jan. 2007 . ITT Night Vision in Roanoke, Va., won a $6.4 million U.S. Army order for AN/PVS-7A night-vision goggles.
The PVS-7A goggles enable military ground forces to conduct critical missions during the darkest conditions. The goggles can be hand-held, helmet-mounted, or head-strapped for hands-free operations.
The ITT night-vision device senses light from the visible spectrum to 0.9 micron infrared, has a field of view of 40 degrees, a minimum brightness gain of 3,000 foot-lumens, and can focus from 20 centimeters to infinity.
The goggles require battery power of 2.7 to 3 volts DC at 50 milliamps, use two 1.5-volt AA alkaline or one 2-volt lithium battery, and operate in temperatures from -51 to 52 degrees Celsius.
