WAYNE, N.J., 1 Feb. 2007. Data Link Solutions has received a $34.8 million U.S. Air Force contract from Warner Robins Air Logistic Center to provide Link 16 multifunctional information distribution systems (MIDS) capability to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Link 16 provides real-time data communications, situational awareness, and navigation in a jam-resistant, crypto-secured package.

The award, which marks Saudi Arabia's first purchase of MIDS, will include deliveries of the MIDS LVT-3 Fighter Data Link to be incorporated on the Saudi F-15 fleet. It follows a previous award for Link 16 equipment to support Saudi E-3 AWACS.

Link 16 provides situational awareness through the exchange of voice and digital data over a common communications link that is continuously and automatically updated in real time. Various types of Link 16 terminals currently provide interoperable communications aboard tactical fighter aircraft, command and control aircraft, ships, and fixed and mobile ground sites.

Work will be performed in Wayne, N.J., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
