SAN ANTONIO, 28 April 2007. MDI Inc., provider of Unified Technology solutions for the security industry, has received an additional order from the U.S. Naval Warfare Center to provide intrusion detection capabilities for portable armories that will be used to secure government assets at a classified military base in the southern United States.

This order is in addition to the order announced recently for installation of the MDI System at a U.S. Naval Support Center in Europe.

This order is part of a large integrated commercial intrusion detection systems contract that was awarded by the Department of Defense and provides a means for Army, Navy, and Air Force installations to detect, assess, and respond to unauthorized entry or intrusion of facilities.

Contract requirements specify use, maintenance, and management of the MDI system, which is installed at numerous military base locations across the country. Exact details of the order cannot be made available.

The U.S. Navy is responsible for supporting multiple defense security system components for the Department of Defense including high-security locking devices, command control and communication systems, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, badging systems, personnel alerting systems, portable armories, CCTV systems, and biometrics.

The mobile armories built at this facility secured by the MDI system will be installed at one of the largest active-duty military installations in the United States, covering several hundred square miles. With a state-of-the-art training facility and the most modern warfighting equipment available in the world, this post is home to more than 40,000 military personnel.
