Thin, protective film coating protects critical unmanned vehicle assemblies

May 28, 2007

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., 28 May 2007. Para Tech Coating Inc. in Aliso Viejo, Calif., is offering Parylene vacuum deposition coating services for protecting mission-critical components and assemblies in unmanned ground, air, and aerospace vehicles.

Parylene is a thin, transparent, protective polymer film with physical and electrical properties.

Unmanned military systems face a range of environmental challenges including temperature extremes and exposure to demanding physical and chemical conditions. Conventional coatings simply do not measure up to the electrical and environmental demands of robotic devices, unmanned aircraft and aerospace platforms.

Parylene protects assemblies when repair is impractical and the operational cost of failure would be unacceptably high. Parylene properties include high dielectric protection in very thin layers as well as resistance to toxic chemicals, gases and moisture, and stress-free performance across a broad temperature range. This coating complies with Mil-I-46058C and IPC-CC-830 requirements, and has been repeatedly proven in demanding military applications.
