DHS selects Pixia Corp. to provide geospatial imagery for disaster preparedness and response

July 5, 2007

STERLING, Va., 5 July 2007. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has selected Pixia Corp., a provider of rapid image access technology, to provide a baseline capability for serving geospatial imagery via the Department's Integrated Common Analytical Viewer (iCAV) system.

iCAV is a Web-based geospatial analytical and situational awareness system that helps the DHS mission partners to better prepare, prevent, respond, and recover from natural and man-made disasters.

DHS has procured Pixia's software to enable the rapid ingest and dissemination of large amounts of satellite and aerial imagery.

Under this program, Pixia engineers will provide the ability to continuously add new imagery to the server as it is being acquired without interruption to the service. This capability should significantly improve the lag time from image collection to dissemination as well as improve the speed at which imagery may be accessed and the overall end user experience.
