Teledyne relays improves broadband electromechanical relays

August 22, 2007

HAWTHORNE, Calif., 22 Aug. 2007. Teledyne Relays in Hawthorne, Calif., announced improvements to its Series GRF300 and GRF303 high-repeatability, broadband electromechanical relays, which deliver 10-gigabit-per-second data rates for digital signal integrity applications.

The relays are designed to provide a practical surface-mount solution with improved RF signal repeatability over the frequency range. Improved ground connections provide the 10-gigabit-per-second data rates.

Teledyne collaborated with two customers to evaluate the performances of the GRF300 and GRF303 relays. An eye diagram simulated using the S-parameter data demonstrated the ability to transmit 10-gigabit-per-second signals. The maximum useful bandwidth reached 19 to 21 GHz.

These surface-mount relays employ a butt-lead mounting scheme. They also feature a ground shield that insulates and shields each lead to ensure contact-to-contact and pole-to-pole isolation.

The relays are hermetically sealed to offer robust shock, vibration, temperature and ESD resistance, EMI shielding and immunity to cleaning solutions. The GRF300 measures .375 inches in diameter and .315 inches tall and weighs 0.09 ounces. The GRF303 measures .375 inches in diameter and .425 inches tall and weighs 0.16 ounces.
