HAIFA, Israel, 4 Jan. 2008.Elbit Systems in Haifa, Israel, is introducing the JedEyes advanced helmet-mounted display (HMD) for Apache and other helicopters.

JedEyes offers improvements over existing HMDs, not only through its ultra-wide Field of View (FOV), but also by providing high-resolution dual-vision 3D imagery on the See-Through Visor several visual cues and video sources such as UAVs, digital maps, and on-and off-board sensors.

The HMD is also lightweight to reduce head and neck fatigue. With features for situational awareness, JedEyes is operational in day, night, and brownout flight environments. Its ultra-wide FOV also diminishes vertigo occurrences. Pilots can super-impose obstacle symbology onto the HMD view so they can be forewarned in ample distance and time.

JedEyes warns of dangerous environments and guides the pilot to secure waypoints via the shortest distance possible. Its "pass in the sky" feature enables the flight path to pass outside of the threat.

JedEyes FOV of 70 by 40 degrees features resolution of 2250 by 1200 pixels on two flat panel displays. It also contains electro optic payloads, binocular/monocular display, off-the-visor display projection, 3D dual vision display picture-in-picture (fixed, pop-up, or space stabilized), and distortion correction. Additional capabilities include real time sensor fusion and multi-sensor display, virtual HUD and virtual display/cockpit.

Designed for U.S. helmet shell compatibility, JedEyes supports all U.S. safety procedures and standards and is compatible with Apache Block III, MC, MTADS and IHADSS21 systems.
