BittWare introduces VXS signal-processing card at Military & Aerospace Electronics Forum

SAN DIEGO, 12 March 2008. BittWare Inc. in Concord, N.H., is introducing a ruggedized hybrid signal-processing board called the GT-6U-VME (GTV6) this week at the Military & Aerospace Electronics Forum conference and trade show in San Diego.

The GTV6 features two Altera Stratix II GX field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), two processing clusters consisting of two ADSP-TS201S TigerSHARC DSPs from Analog Devices, and as much as 3 gigabytes of DDR2 SDRAM memory.

This conduction-cooled board is for existing and future high-end, multi-processing military applications requiring embedded signal processing in a VXS/VITA 41 form factor.

"The current applications of our military customers -- radar, sonar, unmanned vehicles, and software-defined radio -- require high-end signal processing coupled with complete flexibility, all in a rugged platform," says Darren Taylor, BittWare's senior vice president of sales and marketing.

"Our GT family of ruggedizable, hybrid signal processing products addresses these needs, while also enabling our customers to adapt the hardware for future requirements, extending product life cycles and hardware reuse," Taylor says.

The GTV6 implements a dual BittWare ATLANTiS" framework to interface between the FPGAs and DSPs. Implemented in each Altera Stratix II GX FPGA, ATLANTiS integrates the FPGA and DSP processing, allocating the I/O bandwidth among the individual processing units, while also handling on- and off-board data routing.

The dual ATLANTiS framework provides 5 gigabytes per second of continuous throughput and leaves FPGA resources for additional processing. For more information contact BittWare online at www.bittware.com.
