SprayCool introduces liquid-cooled enclosure for military applications

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash., 11 March 2008. SprayCool in Liberty Lake, Wash. (formerly ISR), are introducing the Multi-Platform Enclosure (MPE) for mission-criticalmilitary applications.

The MPE chassis employs two-phase cooling technology, and has already been selected by prime integrators Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman for U.S. military programs involving radar, image processing, and electronic warfare applications.

The MPE enables systems integrators to deploy legacy or proprietary electronics with commercial-grade electronics in the same enclosure. The MPE also accepts electronics cards designed for air or conduction cooling with minimal modifications.

The MPE's controlled operating environment enables all electronics to operate in demanding environments. "SprayCool's patented two-phase liquid cooling system means customers can package significantly more electronics capability into a smaller, lighter, more power efficient enclosure," says Matt Gerber, SprayCool president and chief executive officer.

The MPE enclosure can scale from four to 21 slots and is designed to industry standards for 6U-by-160 millimeter VME-64X, VPX, VXS, cPCI and CPCIe(EXP.0) and proprietary electronics boards.

The operating environment can range from -65 to 71 degrees Celsius, and altitudes as high as 100,000 feet in unpressurized compartments. SprayCool's MPE meets or exceeds MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 requirements for harsh environments. For more information contact SprayCool online at www.spraycool.com.
