U.S. Army selects ICx Technologies as lead technology integrator for the Joint Force Protection Advanced Security System

WASHINGTON, 29 Dec. 2008. ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection, and commercial applications, won a three-year, $9.4 million base contract by the U.S. Army RDECOM Contracting Center.

The award was presented as a single contract for systems engineering, analysis, and the integration of force-protection technologies into the JFPASS Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD).

ICx Technologies is the prime contractor but will be supported by a team of recognized subcontractors. In its lead technical role, ICx will integrate some of its own sensor technologies along with numerous technologies from other manufacturers, covering perimeter-security detectors, CBRNE sensors, and mobile sensors on manned and unmanned platforms, such as UGVs.

In addition to integration, ICx will also be developing sensor fusion and command-and-control logic-based algorithms to automate and speed up the link between the sensor information that comes in and the resulting emergency- and incident-response capabilities.

Says Colin Cumming, chief technology officer of ICx: "JCTD programs are strategically important R&D efforts as they represent next-generation concepts and technologies. In this case, we will be building the next generation force protection system for the Joint Forces utilizing our Cohesion IF product, along with a number of other technologies."
