NORCROSS, Ga., 19 Feb. 2009. EMS Technologies Inc. in Norcross, Ga., won a $35.7 million contract from Northrop Grumman Corp. to continue concept advanced development work for the extremely high frequency (EHF) military satellite communications system for the military avionics aboard the B-2 stealth bomber.

Northrop Grumman is prime contractor for the U.S. Air Force B-2 long-range strike aircraft.

The EHF system will enable the B-2 to use the communication techniques of Milstar and Advanced EHF satellites, and will provide communications improvement compared with the current ultra-high frequency (UHF) satellite communications system.

"The B-2 EHF antenna system represents a combination of our EHF military satellite expertise and our commercial Satcom antenna products," says David Smith, vice president and general manager at EMS Defense & Space Systems.
