Fischer introduces Aluminum connectors for ultralight systems design

February 26, 2009

SAINT-PREX, Switzerland, 26 Feb. 2009. Fischer Connectors SA in Saint-Prex, Switzerland, is introducing the AluLite series of aluminum military connectors that are 50 percent lighter than typical metal aerospace connectors for military system applications, mobile equipment, portable systems, and hand-held devices.

Available in a wide range of colors, from bright to camouflage shades, the Fischer AluLite rugged connector product is a 360-degree EMC shielded, and is appropriate for military connector applications. It is sealed up to IP68 (2m/24h) or even hermetic, for applications in harsh environment connectors.

For frequent connect and disconnect operations, the plugs and receptacles are engineered to endure more than 5,000 mating cycles within a temperature range of -50 to 150 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the anodized finished connector housing is engineered with an aluminum alloy specifically chosen for its anticorrosion property.

Accepting cable diameters from 1.4 to 10.7 millimeters, the AluLite series is available in multipole from 2 to 27 pins with solder, PCB, or crimp contacts and, on request, in coax, triax or hybrid contact configurations.

The choice of body styles includes: standard-sized or short plugs, push-pull locking mechanism or emergency release system, front projecting or flush receptacles, front or rear mounting models.
