IR offers testing services for COTS components used in mil-aero applications

March 14, 2009

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 14 March 2009. International Rectifier (IR)'s HiRel Business Unit has launched Testing Services to customers seeking critical electrical, reliability, and qualification testing.

IR's new suite of testing services addresses the growing need for electrical and environmental testing of hermetic and non-hermetic (plastic) components required by customers in a range of high-reliability market segments.

Fred Farris, VP of sales & marketing for IR's HiRel Products, says: "Customers of cost-sensitive commercial products, which are the product of choice for many new high-reliability designs, can now rely on IR to undertake program testing to fulfill their requirements on a commercial item basis, reducing or even eliminating the need to use outside test houses."

The breadth of IR's standard offerings includes a combination of electrical testing, die services, quality compliance, device evaluation, environmental testing, and packaging services for MOSFETs, diodes, IGBTs, bipolar transistors, and power ICs housed in a broad range of industry-standard packages. Radiation testing is offered as a non-standard offering. In addition to standard offerings, custom requests are reviewed for consideration.

Services are performed in IR's 68,000 ft2, JANS, Class K, ISO4001, ISO9001, and AS9100 certified facility in Leominster, Mass. The facility designs and manufactures IR's discrete components, power modules, and motor controllers for high reliability applications.
