MEN Micro offers reflective memory PMC module for data security and memory capacity

AMBLER, Pa., 1 March 2009. MEN Micro Inc. in Ambler, Pa., is introducing the P512 reflective memory PCI mezzanine card (PMC) that provides real-time redundant military data storage across several computers in a networked battlefield system.

The P512 is for mission-critical and data-intensive aerospace electronics and medical applications such as data acquisition, test and measurement, and machine automation.

The 32-bit/33 MHz P512 offers data security and expanded memory capacity, since memory elements can be read from and written to different processors simultaneously and shared among PCs providing a redundant memory architecture.

Each P512 module offers 32 megabytes soldered, FPGA-controlled DDR2 SDRAM and an LVDS channel with a connection speed of 230 MHz and 86 megabytes per second. The PMC supports multi-mode transmission as far as six feet, so it can be integrated into a mesh connecting all modules of the network to each other. For this, each system CPU needs a PMC module for the connection to the other computers (i.e. for two SBCs -- one PMC module per SBC, three SBCs -- two PMC modules per SBC, etc.).

The P512 operates from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius with qualified components as is suitable for any PMC-compliant host carrier board in any type of bus system (i.e. CPCI, VME or on any stand-alone SBC). Appropriate PMC carrier cards in 3U, 6U and other formats are available from MEN Micro and other manufacturers.
