ROCHESTER, N.Y., 30 April 2009. Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, won a $20 million contract from the Polish Ministry of National Defense (MoND) to deliver a combination of multiband and HF handheld tactical radio for Poland's Land and Special Operations Command Forces.

Harris is providing Poland with its AN/PRC-152(C) multiband handheld radio, AN/PRC-117F multiband manpack radio, and the AN/PRC-150(C) high-frequency (HF) manpack radio. The radios will provide Polish forces with secure voice and data communications and provide interoperability with U.S., NATO, and coalition forces. All the radios feature Harris software-defined architecture, enabling adaptability to changing mission requirements through software upgrades. In addition, the new technology will maintain interoperability with Harris legacy radios already deployed by Polish forces, says a representative.

Polish forces will also be leveraging Harris secure HF technology with the Falcon II AN/PRC-150(C) manpac, which is capable of providing reliable, beyond line-of-sight communications and is well suited for use in obstructed mountainous environments or for long haul, reach-back requirements.
