April 14, 2009

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., 14 April 2009. Ampex Data Systems Corp. won a contract award from L-3 Integrated Systems to supply rugged Ampex miniR 700 airborne high-definition video data recorder systems. The recorder systems will support the Air Force's new NC-2W Intelligence-Surveillance-Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft. These Project Liberty Aircraft will augment current ISR assets used by the U.S. military and its coalition partners.

"The miniR 700 recorder is a fully integrated, multi-channel, high-definition video and digital data recorder," describes Don Downing, Ampex business development manager. "The unique architecture of our miniR 700 solid-state recorder system enables it to collect and replay the full-motion video generated by the advanced L-3 WESCAM MX-15 True HD Sensor.

Lawrence Chiarella, president of Ampex Data Systems, says: "The Ampex miniR 700 product line offers the very best in airborne data recording technology to support multi-mission ISR platforms. Our selection for the Project Liberty program builds on our ongoing effort to be the world's foremost provider of airborne mission recorder systems."
