Elbit Systems of America to provide soldier-worn computer systems to U.S. Army for the Ground Soldier Ensemble Program

May 6, 2009

FORT WORTH, Texas, 6 May 2009. U.S. Army officials have selected Elbit Systems of America LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., as part of an industry team led by Rockwell Collins for the system integration and prototype phase of the Ground Soldier Ensemble (GSE) program.

The next-generation, soldier-worn computer system will provide situational awareness to soldiers during intense operations in a configuration that optimizes size, weight, and power, says a representative. It also will be able to be customized for different missions.

Elbit Systems of America has experience with rugged military computing technologies and offers the soldier-worn Dominator computing system.

Elbit Systems' computing platforms are designed to support mission planning, situational awareness, target handling, and device connectivity, as well as video and map display.

Says Raanan Horowitz, president and CEO of Elbit Systems of America: "Together with Rockwell Collins and Boeing, we will provide our country's front line men and women superior situational awareness and information superiority in a way that ensures they can execute their missions effectively and come back safely."
