Embedded computing boards from Curtiss-Wright to support Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs

June 26, 2009

HIGH WYCOMBE, England, 26 June 2009. Single board computer expert Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing in High Wycombe, England, is announcing support for the Xilinx Virtex-6 field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) in the company's FPGA mezzanine card (FMC/VITA 57) modules, which include the ADC512 and ADC513 analog-to-digital converter cards.

These FMC cards enable system designers to speed Virtex-6-based digital signal processing (DSP) subsystems by routing the high-speed A-D converter I/O directly to the Virtex-6 FPGAs on the host board via the FMC connector.

Available in air- and conduction-cooled rugged versions, the ADC512 and ADC513 are for demanding reconfigurable computing applications, such as direct RF down-conversion, signals intelligence and surveillance, satellite communications and software-defined radio (SDR).

The ADC512 is a 3 gigasample-per-second 8-bit, dual channel A-D converter card, and the quad channel ADC513 is a 1.5 gigasample-per-second 8-bit, A-D converter card that can support speeds of 1,500 megasamples per second data throughput per channel. FMC/VITA 57 modules enable I/O devices on VITA 57 industry standard mezzanine cards to receive control from FPGAs that reside on a host board.
