Newest Navy destroyer to receive shipboard electronic assemblies from LaBarge

ST. LOUIS, 23 July 2009. LaBarge Inc. in St. Louis will provide shipboard electronic assemblies for the Advanced Gun System (AGS) aboard the first two of three anticipated DDG 1000 Zumwalt-class U.S. Navy destroyers to be built, under terms of a $6.1 million contract from AGS manufacturer BAE Systems.

The DDG 1000 Navy warship is will be built to attack targets on land and in coastal waters, and will operate as an part of joint and combined expeditionary forces. The AGS with LaBarge shipboard electronics will be used against a wide range of coastal and inland targets, as well as advanced anti-ship gunfire.

LaBarge officials say this latest award will continue production on the AGS program at the company's Huntsville, Ark., facility through December 2009.
