PHOENIX, 19 July 2009. General Dynamics C4 Systems in Phoenix is introducing the HOOK2 SATCOM satellite terminal base station to provide military radio communications with the satellite communications-enabled AN/PRC-112G combat search and rescue military radio.

The SATCOM Base Station enables secure, two-way, worldwide tactical radio communications via military satellite with isolated personnel or rescue forces who are using a satellite-enabled HOOK2 AN/PRC-112G combat search and rescue radio.

The military satellite communications kit includes base station radio, ruggedized computer, satellite antenna; cabling and power supply as options; embedded security that prevents information from being compromised; interrogation that rapidly locates and identifies isolated personnel; e-mail-like format for messaging; and messages that can be sent immediately or held in queue.

Composed of the software-defined, upgradeable AN/PRC-112G transceiver or the AN/PRC-112B1 transceiver, plus a handheld GPS Quickdraw2 interrogator, the system adds encrypted two-way messaging and GPS positioning for precise location.

The Quickdraw Interrogator turns virtually any aircraft into a CSAR platform simply by plugging the device into the aircraft's intercom system.
