Tactical information display introduced by Z Microsystems for digital video surveillance

SAN DIEGO, 9 July 2009. Z Microsystems in San Diego is introducing the Ground Control Station (GCS) military display panel with real-time enhanced video (RTEV) for digital video surveillance.

SAN DIEGO, 9 July 2009. Z Microsystems in San Diego is introducing the Ground Control Station (GCS) military display panel with real-time enhanced video (RTEV) for digital video surveillance.

The military LCD panel uses a high-powered field programmable gate array (FPGA) to process image enhancement algorithms in real time for live video surveillance feeds such as those applicable to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

The GCS tactical information display applies image enhancement and edge detection algorithms to incoming video streams without adding latency. An image enhancement algorithm brings out the detail from images degraded by poor visibility or atmospheric interference.

The edge detection algorithm identifies anomalous shapes and highlights details for surveillance and bomb damage assessment (BDA). Operators can turn image functions on or off with the click of a button.
