FPGA-based signal processing DSP board in VPX form factor introduced by BittWare

September 9, 2009

LONDON, 9 Sept. 2009. BittWare Inc. in Concord, N.H., is introducing the GT3X FPGA-based signal processing DSP board in VPX form factor for rugged systems in military, aerospace, communications, and instrumentation applications. The company made the announcement this week at the Defence Systems & Equipment International (DSEi) trade show in London.

The GT 3U VPX (GT3X) FPGA board has a large Altera Stratix II GX field programmable gate array (FPGA) and one cluster of four ADSP-TS201S TigerSHARC processors from Analog Devices for DSP FPGA processing. The board complies with the VITA 46 VPX standard.

The DSP board front panel provides high-speed SerDes, 10/100 Ethernet, and RS-232; and the back panel interface supports PCI Express, Serial RapidIO, Gigabit Ethernet (GigE), and 10 GigE. The GT3X 3U VPX board can achieve simultaneous on-board and off-board data transfers at rates faster than 2 gigabytes per second via BittWare's ATLANTiS FrameWork implemented in the Stratix II GX FPGA.

The industry's first COTS VPX (VITA 46) board based on Altera's Stratix II GX, the GT3X provides a hybrid signal processing architecture that takes advantage of both FPGA and DSP technology creating a complete solution for applications requiring flexibility and adaptability along with high-end signal processing, all on a ruggedizable platform.
