Tektronix to supply digital phosphor oscilloscopes to U.S. Navy

September 30, 2009

BEAVERTON, Ore., 30 Sept. 2009. Tektronix Inc., a worldwide provider of test, measurement, and monitoring instrumentation, has won a contract award from the U.S. Navy to supply Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes (DPOs). The $10.75 million contract has a Best Estimated Quantity (BEQ) of 5000 units over a five-year period.

The Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP), the Navy's primary equipment purchasing and inventorying agent for the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), will use the Tektronix 100-MHz, 2-channel TDS3012C oscilloscopes for its General Purpose Electronic Test Equipment (GPETE) program. This contract follows two similar oscilloscope programs awarded by the U.S. Navy in recent years -- 100MHz, 2-channel TDS3012B (six year program) and the 500MHz, 4-channel TDS5054B oscilloscopes (five year program). The TDS3000C oscilloscopes will be used to support a variety of Navy electronics systems including radar, communications, and navigation. In addition, the instruments will be used to support various Navy training programs and be a part of its metrology labs to assist with calibration and equipment repairs.

As part of a competitive contract bid with a specific set of requirements, the NAVICP selected Tektronix for its affordability. The TDS3000C Series provides the performance to visualize fast-changing signals in a compact, battery-capable design. The TDS3000C Series is easy to use so less time is spent re-learning how to use the oscilloscope, allowing more time for the task at hand. Users throughout the U.S. Navy will be able to quickly and easily conduct required, complex measurements with the Tektronix TDS3012C DPO oscilloscopes.

"Tektronix has a long and trusted relationship with the U.S. Navy, and this contract win is an important validation to our continued focus of developing best-in-class, affordable solutions to help customers stay ahead in their industries," said Amir Aghdaei, President, Tektronix. "Thanks to a forward-looking design and loyal following, Tektronix is proud to say that the TDS3000C Series is one of the most popular oscilloscope families in the industry."
