Extreme Engineering Solutions introduces 3U VPX single-board computer

MIDDLETON, Wis., 29 Dec. 2009 Extreme Engineering Solutions is now shipping XPedite7172, a high-performance VPX single-board computer (SBC) featuring the Intel Core2 Duo processor, with six SATA ports, and two SERDES Gigabit Ethernet ports. The XPedite7172 is a targeted at military, commercial, and industrial embedded computing applications.

The XPedite7172 is based on OpenVPX standards as much as 4 gigabytes of DDR2-400 ECC SDRAM, two USB 2.0 high-speed ports, two serial ports, Ruggedized Enhanced Design Implementation (REDI), and supports Linux, VxWorks, QNX Neutrino, Green Hills INTEGRITY, and Windows XP/Vista drivers.

Configurable as either air-cooled or conduction-cooled, the XPedite7172 is designed to meet a wide range of environmental requirements. The XPedite7172 hosts numerous I/O ports through the P2 backplane connector, supporting RTM I/O in development platforms and backplane/bulkhead I/O in deployed systems. A XMC expansion slot provides easy product customization and an optional I/O module allows convenient front-panel access to serial, Ethernet, and USB ports during lab development.

The XPedite7172 is available for $7,380; variable pricing based on processor speed, memory configuration, ruggedization level, and volume purchases.
