  • October 16, 2010 -- New B-2 EHF satcom hardware from Northrop Grumman begins flight testing
    EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif., 16 Oct. 2010. Northrop Grumman Corp. has begun flight testing the new computing hardware and communications infrastructure that will eventually allow the B-2 stealth bomber to send and receive battlefield information by satellite more than 100 times faster than today.
  • August 6, 2010 -- Oil spill capping to keep oil slick in check aided by Media Wall technology from RGB Spectrum
    ALAMEDA, Calif., 6 Aug. 2010. The Media Wall image display system from RGB Spectrum in Alameda, Calif., took part in the capping of the Deepwater Horizon Well in the Gulf of Mexico to stop the oil spill creating a huge oil slick that may take months or years to clean up. Handling the work to cap the well were deepwater remote operating vehicles (ROVs) controlled aboard ships by an integrated control system using RGB Spectrum MediaWall display technology.
  • July 9, 2010 -- Sabtech to provide NTDS circuit boards for Navy Vertical Launch System surface warship missile weapons
    PHILADELPHIA, 9 July 2010. U.S. Navy officials are choosing Sabtech Industries in Yorba Linda, Calif., to provide board products for data buses and networking in the MK 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS), Next Generation (NG-2) launch control units aboard Navy surface warships. Sabtech will provide the Navy with 44 Dual Channel Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS) Type E circuit board assemblies and 106 Dual Channel Type D circuit card assemblies under terms of a contract yet to be negotiated, Navy officials announced Wednesday.
  • July 15, 2010 -- Navy steps-up development of A-160T Hummingbird unmanned helicopter for evaluation by Special Operations forces
    PATUXENT RIVER NAS, Md., 15 July 2010. U.S. Navy officials are stepping up development of the Boeing A-160T unmanned helicopter to procure additional prototypes of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to support evaluations and testing by U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. Officials of the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., on Tuesday announced they are increasing the ceiling of an order for the Boeing A-160T unmanned aviation system (UAS) because they originally underestimated the cost and schedule of developing the Hummingbird unmanned helicopter to full maturity.
  • July 10, 2010 -- DARPA pursues electronic warfare machine learning technology to automatically jam enemy adaptive communications
    ARLINGTON, Va., 11 July 2010. Electronic warfare specialists at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, Va. are trying to push the bounds of machine learning to counter enemy threats from adaptive wireless communications such as radios, command and control networks, and RF triggers to detonate improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Adaptive communications automatically adjusts to conditions that degrade its performance, such as environmental conditions, or from intentional or inadvertent signals jamming.
