  • August 6, 2010 -- Oil spill capping to keep oil slick in check aided by Media Wall technology from RGB Spectrum
    ALAMEDA, Calif., 6 Aug. 2010. The Media Wall image display system from RGB Spectrum in Alameda, Calif., took part in the capping of the Deepwater Horizon Well in the Gulf of Mexico to stop the oil spill creating a huge oil slick that may take months or years to clean up. Handling the work to cap the well were deepwater remote operating vehicles (ROVs) controlled aboard ships by an integrated control system using RGB Spectrum MediaWall display technology.
  • July 9, 2010 -- Sabtech to provide NTDS circuit boards for Navy Vertical Launch System surface warship missile weapons
    PHILADELPHIA, 9 July 2010. U.S. Navy officials are choosing Sabtech Industries in Yorba Linda, Calif., to provide board products for data buses and networking in the MK 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS), Next Generation (NG-2) launch control units aboard Navy surface warships. Sabtech will provide the Navy with 44 Dual Channel Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS) Type E circuit board assemblies and 106 Dual Channel Type D circuit card assemblies under terms of a contract yet to be negotiated, Navy officials announced Wednesday.
  • June 30, 2010 -- SRI International to provide chemical warfare mapping in strategically important regions in $9 million DARPA contract
    ARLINGTON, Va., 30 June 2010. Chemical analysis systems designers at SRI International in Menlo Park, Calif., will develop an advanced chemicals analysis system for chemical warfare defense that provides chemical mapping and reconnaissance after processing and identifying chemicals in the atmosphere under terms of a $9 million contract awarded Monday by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, Va. SRI, an independent nonprofit research institute, will do the work as part of phases-2 and -3 of DARPA's Panoptic Analysis of Chemical Traces (PACT) program. The chemicals analysis system that SRI International will develop for DARPA will provide high-throughout, cost-effective, high fidelity identification of chemical constituents.
  • June 18, 2010 -- DHS seeks cargo-screening imaging technology to detect explosives hidden in freight before shipping on passenger jets
    ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., 18 June 2010. Researchers from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are asking industry to develop new kinds of cargo-screening systems with imaging technology that are able to detect explosives hidden in palletized goods before shipping aboard passenger aircraft. Officials of the explosives division of the DHS Transportation Security Laboratory in Atlantic City, N.J., issued a broad agency announcement (BAA 10-19) Thursday for the Screening of Palletized Air Cargo – Emerging Technologies program.

    WASHINGTON, 9 June 2010. U.S. Navy researchers are asking industry for new ideas in submarine technology -- particularly involving submarine communication, anti-submarine warfare (ASW), submarine combat systems, and towed array sonar applications.
