Hybricon announces the availability of standard VITA 65 VPX backplanes

AYER, Mass., 28 Jan. 2010., -Hybricon Corp. announced the availability of standard VITA 65 compliant VPX backplanes – compatible and interchangeable with Hybricon's Air Cooled Development chassis families.

VPX is a broadly defined technology utilizing the latest in a variety of switch fabric technologies in 3U and 6U format modules. VITA 65 OpenVPX is the architecture framework that defines system-level VPX interoperability for multi-vendor, multi-module, integrated system environments. The OpenVPX framework delineates clear interoperability points necessary for integrating module to module, module to backplane and chassis.

Hybricon is a leading member of the VITA 65 Working Group and the VPX Marketing Alliance which is focused on the advancement of the VPX family of technologies, including VPX, VPX REDI, OpenVPX, as well as other related activities on the VPX roadmap such as fiber optics and RF. Hybricon's standard VITA 65 VPX Backplanes:


- support OpenVPX, VPX, and VPX REDI;
- support ANSI/VITA 46.0, ANSI/VITA 65, VITA 46.3, VITA 46.4, VITA 46.7, and VITA 46.11 draft standards;
- support VITA 48.0, VITA 48.1 and VITA 48.2 draft standards;
- support VITA 65 OpenVPX: backplane configurations;
- are applicable for both Air Cooled VITA 48.1 and Conduction Cooled VITA 48.2 applications;
- are esigned to meet environmental requirements per ANSI/VITA 47 class ECC4 (requires optional conformal coating to meet requirements such as humidity, salt, and fog); and
- have an operating temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius at MSL.
