Presagis leverages Seaweed Systems acquisition to launch embedded graphics business group

March 10, 2010

MONTREAL, 10 March 2010. Presagis in Montreal, a provider of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) modeling, simulation and embedded display graphics software, is forming an embedded graphics business unit to provide users with one supplier of graphics drivers and HMI software tools.

Presagis is capitalizing on its acquisition of Seaweed Systems Inc. of Burlington, Mass., last September to address the embedded market. Seaweed Systems specialized in software, drivers, and specialized graphics processors.

"Having one supplier developing, supporting, and optimizing both drivers and HMI products will help us to further enhance performance of our applications," says Andreas Schacht, head of avionics driver and support software at Defence Electronics, an integrated activity at defense integrator EADS Defence & Security.

The Presagis embedded graphics unit will tap into the company's experience in standards-based COTS graphics drivers and human-machine-interface (HMI) software to replace conventional system controls with sophisticated digital displays.

Presagis will continue relationships with embedded COTS software and hardware organizations such as Wind River, Green Hills Software, Curtiss Wright, and GE Intelligent Platforms, company officials say.
