BRONSCHHOFEN, Switzerland, 26 April 2010. Swissbit has expanded its family of Flash memory products with the M-100 series of 128-megabyte MultiMedia Card (MMC) with a ruggedized housing to provide enhanced ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) protection up to 15 kilovolts (kV).

This small form factor Flash card also offers a MTBF rating of >4,000,000 hours, >10,000 insertions/removals, and 10-year data retention to satisfy demanding non-volatile, high-reliability applications for transportation, aerospace, military, telecommunications, medical, mobile computing, and networking environments.

Intelligent wear-leveling ensures that all dynamic and static data is balanced evenly across the entire Flash memory card. This approach to wear-leveling will guarantee that the maximum write endurance is achieved for every M-100 series Flash card, says a representative.

The Swissbit M-100 Flash card supports MMC and the SPI Bus communication modes. Either mode can be selected by the application while being transparent to the host system.

Data integrity is assured by use of a patented on-board voltage detection and power-loss management system to prevent data corruption during an unexpected loss of power.

The M-100 series MMCs utilize a custom-designed, integrated memory controller and are compliant with the MultiMediaCard Association (MMCA) MMC specifications 3.31, 4.1, and 4.2.

Swissbit MultiMedia Cards come standard with an extended operating temperature range of -25 C to +90 C Ambient. An industrial temperature version that can operate at -40C to +90C Ambient is also available allowing for further design flexibility in harsh environments.

Lifetime monitoring information can be accessed by the application or host system by way of a specialized command set. In addition, the Swissbit Engineering Team can customize the M-100 MultiMedia Card to meet non-standard customer requirements that cannot use an "off-the-shelf" solution.

Customization options can include project specific labeling, data preload, ID string changes, modified capacities, and/or firmware changes. Swissbit Flash and DRAM memory products are RoHS- and REACH-compliant.
