Tiny, rugged laser target designator for small UAV payloads introduced by Elop

REHOVOT, Israel, 15 July 2010. Elop Ltd.in Rehovot, Israel, is introducing the Rattler A miniature, coded laser target designator for micro-payloads and small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The UAV laser designator performance in harsh environments and provides designation for all laser-guided munitions.

The Rattler A laser designator fits in aircraft payloads as small as five inches in diameter, and provides small observation payloads on manned and unmanned aircraft with targeting capabilities by enabling laser designation and coded laser illumination. Its diode-pumped technology and a-thermal design come in single- or multiple-LRU configurations.

The emergence of micro-payloads for micro and mini-UAVs has created a large market demand for very small laser designators with targeting capabilities equal to those of much larger systems, Elop officials say.
