    SANTA CLARA, Calif., 5 Jan. 2011. Officials of LumaSense Technologies Inc. in Santa Clara, Calif., are seeking to improve their company's expertise in thermal imaging technology with their acquisition of L-3 Communications subsidiary InfraredVision Technology Corp. (ITC) in Buellton, Calif. Financial terms were not disclosed. LumaSense specializes in temperature and gas sensing technology.
  • January 6, 2011 -- DARPA takes deep-sea sonar program for advanced anti-submarine warfare (ASW) to the next level
    ARLINGTON, Va., 6 Jan. 2011. Ocean sensor specialists at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, Va., are taking a project to develop a deep-sea sonar system for advanced anti-submarine warfare to the next level. The project calls for revolutionary advances in extremely deep-operating undersea surveillance systems to protect U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and their support vessels from quiet enemy attack submarines.
  • January 8, 2011 -- Sensis ground-based radar demonstrated for U.S. Air Force
    EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y., 8 Jan. 2011. Sensis Corp. has completed the demonstration of critical technologies for the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Three Dimensional Expeditionary Long Range Radar (3DELRR). Sensis demonstrated the capabilities of its full-scale 3DELRR prototype in a relevant expeditionary environment to military and civilian participants from the Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). 
  • January 9, 2011 -- Navy seeks to apply RFID technology to undersea navigation and obstacle avoidance for UUVs
    BETHESDA, Md., 9 Jan. 2011. U.S. Navy researchers are looking into applying passive radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to underwater navigation -- particularly for unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) applications. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) in Bethesda, Md., issued a sources-sought notice (solicitation number N00167XXXXXXX) last week for the Passive Radio Frequency Identification Technology/Hardware program.
  • January 10, 2011 -- Aeroflex to acquire spectrum analyzer assets from Lignex-1
    Stevenage, U.K., 10 Jan. 2011. Aeroflex Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aeroflex Holding Corp., has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire the spectrum analyzer assets from LIGNex1 Co. Ltd. The primary assets to be acquired under the transaction include bench-top spectrum analyzer product lines, including the 2399C, 2394A, and 2395A spectrum analyzers; 3250 Series spectrum analyzers; and all the respective intellectual property.
