SIDNEY, N.Y., 21 May 2011. The NEPTUNE connector line from Amphenol Industrial now includes inline receptacles to improve environmental protection.
In the new configuration the receptacle's backshell is sealed on the outer jacket cable enabling the connector to survive the extreme environment of rugged power applications.
The operating temperature for the connectors is -67 to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. The devices are heat resistant to 750 degrees Fahrenheit.
The IP68-8 rated connectors have armored and sheathed cable built to IEE-45/UL1309, IEC, BS, DIN, and JIC standards as well as unarmored cables and flexible cables, including S, SO, SOOW-A, W and G-GC types.
Amphenol's new connectors also have greater wiring space for cable housings, which eliminates clumsy handling and sealing of inserts with conductors attached.
The contact inserts -- made from nickel silver alloy plating -- are interchangeable and reversible to suit specific needs. Gold plating also is available. The connectors are resistant to 60 Gs, exceeding MIL-STD-167-1 vibration standards.
The NEPTUNE devices have a starting cost of $100 per mated set.
