AML is a major supplier of RF and microwave components to the Raytheon Co. Missile Systems segment in Tucson, Ariz., on the U.S. Air Force Miniature Air Launched Decoy (MALD) stand-in electronic warfare jammer variant. MALD is a air-launched, programmable aerial decoy that duplicates the flight characteristics and signatures of U.S. and allied aircraft to confuse enemy air defenses.
AML also supplies microwave amplifiers to Lockheed Martin Corp. in Bethesda, Md., on the multinational Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS), a mobile air and missile defense system intended to replace Patriot anti-missile systems in the U.S. and Germany, as well as the Nike Hercules missile systems in Italy.
Over the past two years Microsemi also has acquired secure solid-state memory specialist White Electronic Designs Corp. in Phoenix, as well as field-programmable gate array (FPGA) manufacturer Actel Corp. in Mountain View, Calif.
