PARIS, 21 June 2011.Aircraft sales for the Boeing Co. Commercial Airplanes segment in Seattle continued rolling along today at the 2011 Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France. Boeing closed deals for 10 advanced 737-800 narrow-body passenger jetliners, two 747-8 jumbo jet freighter aircraft, and eight 777-300ER long-range jumbo twinjet aircraft. These deals, by rough count, bring total Boeing aircraft sales at Paris to 102 -- 45 of them widebodies.Boeing announced airline business sales today of eight 777-300ER widebody passenger jets and two 747-8 widebody jet freighters to commercial aircraft lease specialist GE Capital Aviation Services in Stamford, Conn., as well as 10 737-800 single-aisle passenger jets to Malaysia Airlines based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.The Malaysia Airlines deal is worth $800 million at current list prices, Boeing officials say. No dollar value was released for the GE Capital deal.
The 747-8 jet freighter is a high-capacity 747 with enhanced environmental performance. The jumbo jet freight is 250 feet long -- more than 18 feet longer than the previous-generation 747-400 freighter.
The digitally designed 737-800 can seat as many as 189 passengers and can fly 315 nautical miles farther than competing models, Boeing officials say.
