HAIFA, Israel, 7 June 2011. Elbit Systems Ltd. will supply a Latin American country with Hermes 900 unmanned aircraft systems (UASs), including complementary ground control stations and Elbit Systems Electro-optics–Elop Ltd.'s DCoMPASS payload systems and radar systems. Hermes 900--expanding on the operational experience of the Hermes 450, which is part of the Israel Defense Forces' UAS fleet--delivers enhanced capabilities, from a flight altitude of more than to 30,000 feet to longer endurance and larger payload capacity.
The system's multipurpose payload bay enables it the use of a wide variety of payloads in various shapes and sizes, as well as quick conversion between various payload configurations. The Hermes 900 also boasts a common unified ground control station (UGCS) and shared software architecture and training programs.
"We are very proud of the Hermes 900 selection, a major milestone in our UAS activity, following the Israeli Defense Forces' Hermes 900 order,” says Joseph Ackerman, president and CEO of Elbit Systems.
