PARIS AIR SHOW BLOG, 21 June 2011. Irkut officials rolled out the new MC 21 airliner for the press this week at the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget airport in France. The new single-aisle aircraft features new avionics and more space in the cabin for passengers.
The avionics were developed by Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Irkut, says Martha Ivanova, director of regional sales for Irkut. The glass cockpit has a 15-inch liquid crystal displays, a head-up-display (HUD) option and a class 3 electronic flight bag (EFB), she says.
The system will receive Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Space Agency (EASA) certification by 2017. The first flight is planned for 2014 with first sales in 2016, Ivanova continues.
