Regional passenger jet fleets worldwide to double over the next two decades, jet maker Embraer says

PARIS, 21 June 2011. Worldwide fleets of 30-to-120-seat regional passenger jets will nearly double over the next two decades, increasing from 4,225 aircraft in 2010 to 8,060 by 2030, say market analysts at regional aircraft giant Embraer SA in São José dos Campos, Brazil. Embraer released its market predictions Monday at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France.

Worldwide demand for new regional passenger jets seating 30 to 120 passengers over the next 20 years should represent 7,225 aircraft worth $320 billion, Embraer analysts say. During this period, 3,835 new jets will support market growth, and 3,390 new jets will replace old aircraft, Embraer analysts say. By 2030, 835 jets of the current fleet will still be in operation.

Of the new passenger jets to be delivered over the next 20 years, Embraer analysts predict 3,125 regional passenger jets should be delivered from 2011 to 2020, and 4,100 should be delivered from 2021 to 2030. Embraer made the predictions in its 2011-2030 market outlook for commercial aircraft in the 30- to 120-seat segment.

Demand over the next two decades for regional passenger jets of all classes should be for 2,350 in North America; 1,675 in Europe; 975 in China; 670 in Latin America; 615 in Asia Pacific; 435 in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States; 310 in the Middle east; and 195 in Africa, Embraer analysts say.

The fastest growing market for 30-to-120-seat passenger jets over the next two decades will be China, followed by Latin America, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Africa, Embraer analysts say. North America and Europe will see relative low demand because their passenger jet fleets are mature and the economic recover in these regions will be slower than others, analysts say.

Demand over the next 20 years should be for 430 30-to-60-seat passenger jets; 2,670 61-to-90-seat passenger jets; and 4,125 91-to-120-seat passenger jets, Embraer analysts say. For more information contact Embraer online at
