A new spacecraft-design approach is on the horizon called fractionated satellite technology, which rather than placing sensors, data processing, and other subsystems on one monolithic spacecraft, would orbit satellite subsystems separately and link them wirelessly -- kind of like a wireless computer network orbiting in space, as John Keller reports this week in the Mil & Aero Video Blog.
